More Than a Job…A Chance to Make a Difference Every Day!
What if your workday didn't begin in a cubicle or end wondering whether anything you did really mattered?
At Ironwood Pig Sanctuary, every day is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of hundreds of rescued pigs. Here, you'll trade fluorescent lights for Arizona sunshine, endless meetings for hands-on work, and routine tasks for moments that remind you why you chose a career that matters. Whether you're preparing breakfast, delivering fresh water, maintaining the sanctuary, or caring for the daily needs of our residents, you'll see the impact of your work every single day.
Ironwood is home to one of the largest pig sanctuaries in the country, but what truly makes this place extraordinary is the people. Our team is made up of compassionate, dedicated individuals who believe every pig deserves safety, dignity, and a life filled with care. Working here means building relationships with these remarkable animals, celebrating their unique personalities, and joining a team that shares your commitment to giving them the best life possible. If you're looking for more than just a paycheck—if you want to end each day knowing your work truly mattered... we'd love to welcome you to Ironwood Pig Sanctuary!
We are currently hiring for three positions:
Waterer
Every healthy pig begins with access to fresh, clean water. As a Waterer, you'll play an essential role in the daily care of hundreds of rescued pigs by ensuring every habitat has clean, reliable water while keeping a watchful eye on the animals throughout your day. You'll work outdoors alongside the Pig Care team, learning pig behavior, sanctuary operations, and the routines that keep Ironwood running smoothly.
This position is often the starting point for a career in Pig Care at Ironwood. As you build experience, demonstrate reliability, and develop confidence working with the pigs and your teammates, you'll have opportunities to expand your knowledge through additional training. We're looking for people who are dependable, observant, eager to learn, and excited to be part of a mission-driven team where every day brings something new.
Feeder
Feeding hundreds of rescued pigs is both an art and a science. Our Feeders do far more than prepare and deliver meals—they learn the personalities, behaviors, and unique needs of hundreds of individual pigs while carefully observing changes that may signal an illness, injury, or other concern. Every feeding is an opportunity to ensure our residents are healthy, thriving, and receiving the individualized care they deserve.
Because this role requires extensive hands-on experience and judgment, Feeders are developed over time through dedicated training and mentorship. The most successful team members are naturally curious, humble, and committed to continuous learning. No one ever "knows it all" at Ironwood. Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new about pig behavior and health, and our best caregivers embrace that challenge with enthusiasm.
Sanctuary Operations Support
If you enjoy variety, teamwork, and being part of something bigger than yourself, Sanctuary Operations Support may be the perfect fit. This role is at the heart of the sanctuary, working alongside multiple teams to help keep daily operations running smoothly. One day you may be assisting the Pig Care Team, another supporting the Maintenance Team with a project, helping prepare supplies, organizing workspaces, or lending a hand wherever it helps the sanctuary operate at its best. Every day is different, and every day contributes to the care and well-being of hundreds of rescued pigs.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys staying active, learning new skills, and working with people who are deeply passionate about the mission. You'll have the opportunity to see how every department works together to create a safe, healthy, and enriching environment for our pigs while building relationships with both the animals and the dedicated team that cares for them. If you take pride in being dependable, adaptable, and ready to jump in wherever your support can make a difference, you'll find purpose in every day at Ironwood Pig Sanctuary.
