Directions From The Phoenix Area, Casa Grande and Eloy via I10:

For your planning purposes travel time from the Phoenix airport  is about 2 hours. There are about 4 miles of dirt roads. Cattle Tank and our lane are in good shape and can accomodate any size vehicle.

Do not use any mapping programs or your GPS because the data base they all use is not correct. We are in a very rural area and you need to use the following directions. You might be able to use your GPS to identify these turns but do not use it for directions. Please follow the following directions carefully.

From Phoenix take I10 East towards Tucson to the Picacho Peak Road Exit #219. (The Peak and not the town). Make a left turn at the end of the exit ramp and go under the freeway and continue until coming to the East side frontage road. Turn right on the frontage road and go 4.8 miles to Park Link Road. Turn left on Park Link Road.

Go a total of 8.2 miles on Park Link and turn right on Cattle Tank road. You might want to check your odometer to alert you when you get close to the Cattle Tank turn.  Just in case you think you have missed the turn you will know that you aren't there yet based upon your odometer.

The Cattle Tank turn is well marked. Cattle Tank is dirt. There are some bumps so drive carefully. Slow for the cattle guard. Cattle Tank and our lane are passable with any vehicle.

Go south on Cattle Tank 3.1 miles. As you near the 3.1 mile point watch for the SECOND yellow real estate sign on the left. Our lane is at the SECOND sign. There is also a sign for our lane but it is blocked by a tree.  Turn left at this sign down our lane which is Crystal Vision. You will see the road sign once you make the turn.  Go about 0.7 miles. We are on the left.  You can’t miss our sign at the front of the sanctuary. The gate opens inward from the left. Lift the inside pin on the left to release the gate. You may go into the Visitor Center to wait for the tour and use the rest room.

Visit Ironwood

Ironwood Pig Sanctuary, PO Box 35490, Tucson, AZ 85740 • 520-631-6015

Please plan ahead for your visit, particularly if you are visiting from out of state and are only here for a few days.

We try to accommodate every one but are not always able to do so. Visits to the Ironwood Pig Sanctuary are by appointment only. We have one tour on the days we are open for visitors. These tours start at 10am in the winter and 9am in the summer. We are not available to accept visitors every day due to things like shortage of staff, monthly vet visit, trips to rescue animals, major projects or other reasons where we do not have the time or staff to show the visitors the sanctuary. A typical visit to the sanctuary takes about 2 hours, not including travel time. It is not practical to just come and look around. Our pigs are in large fields scattered over 15 acres. Your enjoyment will be much better if you are able to have a safe visit and pet some pigs.

You may have noticed from our newsletters the change in our mailing address to PO Box 35490, Tucson, AZ 85740. We have made this change for security reasons for the donations we receive. When mail arrives at the sanctuary it actually arrives at a mailbox which is six miles from the sanctuary and seven miles from Town! These boxes are very remote and because of occassional break-ins we were concerned about the security of donations it might contain. Luckily Ironwood’s mail has never been affected by the break-ins. Please write us at P.O. Box 35490 Tucson, AZ 85740.
